Remote Work vs. Office: What Should Freshers Choose?

The Appeal of Remote Work

Remote work offers incredible flexibility. You save hours on commuting, can work from anywhere, and generally experience a better work-life balance initially. For many freshers, the ability to work for a high-paying international startup while living in a low-cost city is highly appealing.

The Hidden Costs of Remote Onboarding

However, remote work can be detrimental to a junior engineer's growth. In an office, you can easily tap your senior colleague on the shoulder when you're stuck on a bug. You organically learn through osmosis—overhearing architectural discussions and participating in impromptu whiteboarding sessions.

The Hybrid Compromise

For your first 1-2 years in the industry, an office or hybrid environment is strongly recommended. Building a professional network, understanding workplace dynamics, and receiving immediate mentorship are critical foundational steps that are very hard to replicate via Zoom and Slack.
